Okay, I know this thread has already derailed, but back to the topic at hand for a minute. Am I the only person that doesn't even tie my shoes like that?? I have always done two loops and then tied them together, which always yields the horizontal bow. Maybe I'm in the minority here...LOL

You can still get both knots regardless of whether you make the second loop before or after you tie over the top.
