This video right here, is why the life span in DayZ is 27 minutes. Now, if he wants to play his game that way, go ahead but that isn't gonna stop me from calling him a fucking retard. Seriously, this whole video is an example of WHAT NOT TO DO in DayZ. He never figures out his inventory or the fact he has a bag. He runs everywhere he goes, even when zombies are around. He is all about the kills and head shots on zombies while looking for people to kill. I even watched this dude's second video and he was worse. Ya know, if you are gonna be a bandit and hunt people to kill them, fucking do it like a pro, not like a retarded monkey.

Edit: I take my retarded monkey comment back, I think they could play the game better than him. I am not sure why his videos make me rage but they do. I want to punch him in the face.

    Similarly perfect.

I love the quick text blurb in Marou's video. "Who is shooting in Cherno?"

People like that are why we have dumbed down controls and ultra simple gameplay systems in most AAA games. So such people can *just play, smash a button, something awesome happens*.

Have a bunch of misc shit (STANAG mags, MP5SD mags, DMR mags, M24 clips, etc). Running with a PDW and an AKS-74 Kobra, going to hit Gorka tomorrow and try to see if any of the busted up cars and trucks there are salvageable while checking deer huts along the way for the mystical DMR.

We raided the barracks and other areas of NW airfield and loaded up on all sorts of things. No NVG or quality sniper rifle though.

I can't play since this last patch. Tried reinstalling etc.

I spent an hour after work yesterday before getting into a server for just about half an hour, and now I've spent an hour again today trying to play and no server will connect me again. Some servers load wicked fast, then battle eye kicks me for ping. Some servers get stuck on various messages like 'waiting for response' and I've given them 5min+ just hoping it was slow. Other servers I load in and my guy's hands are there with no gun model and none of my controls work. Kind of ironic since I'm aparently one of the tiny percentage that gets fantastic ping on D3 lately.

    EDIT--
Great and I finally connected and there's a new patch out today so I get to go download that and then try to connect for an hour again.

    EDIT--2

Bleh. Spent an hour trying to get into servers around lunchtime. Finally got on, played for 30 minutes, raiding all throughout Cherno. Servers go down.

Waited a fair duration to grab the latest patch and played for barely 10 minutes when I pressed 'Z' to go prone as I sat on roof in Cherno. What happens? My player goes full sprint and dives off the roof. (instant death)

Oh, I found a camo kit but never got to see what it looked like. (My hands were naked so I guess it was shoulder-length?)

New patch didn't help. Couldn't connect to any server for over an hour again, finally got into one and my FPS was sluggish. Turned everything down to 'normal' with no change at all, so it's obviously a server or game client issue and not with my PC. The ONE time I got in properly, I respawned with no items except my pack and gear items at a random place in the forest instead of where I logged off, about to starve. Ran south for a few minutes until my HP started to go down before I decided to just try to respawn.

Great game. Too bad I can't play.

Server connection is much better now. 'Course there's still BS. Started up great, compass, knife, hatchet, 1866, lots of ammo. Zombie hits me ONE TIME for a broken leg and knocked out. Eats me down to -486 before I regain consciousness. Two hours of game time and a bunch of lucky finds gone just like that.

And? I gotten eaten in some way by the geography 4 times in 2 game days. 3 of those times, was in one.

More than that, the game is supposed to be brutally hard. The zombies need to be a threat in some way and if they couldn't kill and or incapacitate in one hit, then they would be completely trivial. As is stands already, half of the DayZ forum is full of people who already think that (so it seems from threads) and that the only real threat is players.

How hard would it really be if the zombies didn't have a chance at all to do that? These are rage zombies, they are not undead. In real life, they would tackle and take you down if you got caught unaware. I think the they need to be harder.

It would be awesome to me if there were a special zombie in each town that if somehow got alerted to your presence, would make that horde scream that is in movies and thus bring all the zombies within a certain radius to your area.

Well I just killed 100 of his bros in a long barn to the north. Found myself with a Czeck pack full of Enfield ammo plus five in my inventory, and decided to burn it. Just fired a shot in the air outside both barn doors then ran to the middle and started dropping them. I had only killed 10 that life and was at 99 when I walked away.

Since it was a dead server (6 online, and I'm pretty sure most of those were 'waiting for server response' because their names were greyed out with little [>] symbols) I actually looted all of them.

My 89 sample testing revealed that zombies strongly prefer Pepsi to Coke in the north west.

This game loves to screw you on login doesn't it?
I have a running list now of:

    Relocated to the coast
Controls locked running/strafing in some direction
    About to starve/parch to death
Actively causing zombies to spawn surrounding yourself
Firing your weapon immediately (not alt-tab) on spawn
Relocated to the exact spot as everyone else and shot by someone camping said spot
    Spawned without your weapons.
And now today I logged in BLEEDING and didn't realize until my screen went fuzzy.

    (05-23-2012) Day 7 - Elektro Engagements

I spawn near Elektro and begin heading towards Elektro. As I enter the remote firehouse, I hear gunfire off in the distance. I perch myself on the top of the firehouse, monitoring for any targets. After a fair duration of silence, I push into the town and explore the offices, eventually pushing up towards the roof. I spot a bandit and wait a few moments until I fire upon him, somehow missing my bursts with the AKM as I watch the bandit dive into cover. To my disgust, I see the zombies rushing out of the woodworks towards my building due to the great disturbance AKM delivers upon firing.

"Who is shooting the AK in Elektro!?" "No idea, but I'm on my way with my DMR sniper rifle."

With a few other individuals stating their interest at engaging the assailant, I realize this is a very poor place to be. I head for cover within the building. A few round are shot off and it appears someone finished off the bandit I originally fired upon, assuming him to be the assailant. I stay within, waiting for the area to mellow out and decide to climb back up on my perch to monitor my surroundings. Moments after getting into position, I hear the sound of boots sprinting up the stairwell towards my direction. I lay prone with my 1911 aimed towards the metal ladder, the only method to gain access to the roof. I sit listening to the individual run through the room and wander around the roof for a short duration until I hear the metal clanking as he begins climbing the ladder. I wait a foot away from the ladder and fire the moment his face gains view of my location. He manages to finish climbing up the ladder and tumbles onto the ground directly in front of my location.

I decide it is time to leave Elektro after Marou & Aeinna report arriving at the nearby mountainside. As I begin the walk, dodgy the mess of zombies stumbling through the town, I hear gunfire in the distance. Marou reports a group of bandits engaged their location, but he was able to eliminate four targets with his M24 sniper rifle before retreating deeper into the woods.

I push forward at a quicker pace to meet them when I hear more gunfire in the distance towards the firehouse. I discover a bandit on the coastline and decide to attempt to try zeroing in on him with my AKM. Turns out my assumption the AKM is terrible at range was correct after a few bursts and the bandit turns towards my direction. "This AKM will be the death of me." I sprint into the woods towards Marou as a large pack of zombies sprints towards my direction due to my gunfire.

I get smacked, breaking my leg causing me to crawl with the zombie horde chasing me. I sit in the bush and fire, killing the pack of zombies when I notice a survivor and bandit sprinting up the hill after me. It looks like my original target has come for revenge. I engage in a gunfight with them and shout for Marou to hurry up. I fire off my last AKM clip, eliminating the bandit when Marou & Aeinna show up and eliminate the survivor. They bandage me up and provide a blood transfusion and make the decision to depart from this hostile region.

We push up towards Staroye where we encounter a survivor engaging zombies in the distance. He spots our group and hightails it in the opposite direction. We stalk him as he runs into the town of Msta, angering a swarm of zombies and dies at the entrance of a building. Marou pushes to explore the nearby deer huts and manages to die while climbing down the ladder. Aeinna & I run over to inspect his body and salvage his gear.

While we wait for Marou to discover his location, we explore the next nearest deer hut to discover nothing of value. We decide to push near the shore to pick up Marou when I my greed decides to divert our path back near Marou's body to see if the deer hut has spawned anything new. As I climb the final step of the deer hut ladder, I see a revolver aimed directly at my face. BAM! No hesitation on his part, I am instantly killed. Aeinna runs dep into the words, fearful of the assailant.

I respawn frustrated and run for 30 minutes back towards Msta, hoping to salvage my gear and manage to loose my sense of direction and decide to head to sleep in a barn.

You guys need to message me on steam when you play. I don't particularly enjoy playing the game solo much. It has it's moments, but I find myself being slightly more homicidal as well as dying more frequently because of it.

Took a break cause the game was making me way paranoid and I need to play something a bit casual.

And you dirty liar Jersey! I didn't run from the bandit, I tried to kill him, got the whole damn town on me cause the M24 is ridiculously loud and left him bleeding while running away from the zombies. I still have no idea if he died or not.

    (05-24-2012) Day 8 - Cherno Troubles

I start my new life to the East of Chernogorsk. I head into town and hear consistent gunfire in the far off distance. I decide to continue exploring the town when I near the church and discover for well-armed survivors and decide to move onward and avoid chancing an encounter. I move towards the nearest firehouse, gearing myself up when I notice a bandit engaging in a gunfight on the outskirts of town. I decide to eliminate the target by lining up the sight of my CZ 550, firing off a single round to kill him instantly. Three survivors instantly round the corner, screaming about shots fired. I ponder about killing the survivors when I notice their firepower consists of a M4A1 and two AKM rifles. Before I can make a decision, I see a large group of zombies appear in their area which engage the small group that retreats into a nearby building.

As I monitor the group, I hear footsteps and see a survivor bump directly into me on the top floor of the firehouse. After short duration, he declares he has no intention to fight and will leave peacefully. To show my friendly intent, I offer him an M4A1 I discovered within the building earlier. We depart ways and I push towards the factory region. After climbing to the top floor of the massive building, I spot a survivor and stalk his movements for a lengthy duration. As I scan the area, I notice an odd zombie sitting alone on the roof of the opposing building when a few rounds are sniper zombie is eliminated. The survivor I was monitoring decides to climb the opposing building to inspect the zombie. I shout for him to identify or respond but receive no response. He continues exploring until he notices me watching and decides to fire a few rounds to take me out. I prone roll off to the side and fire off two rounds to eliminate him.

I decide to leave my perch and loot his gear, discovering he had an M4A1 CCO, quite a nice weapon. I continue my march through the town to find a military camp with medical supplies and weapons. As I round a corner, I see the back of a bandit enter a building. I backpedal to view him through the camp window and fire off a single M1911 round to his head, killing him. I receive global chatter, yelling as to why he was killed.

I decide to explore the rest of the tents for weapons, discovering an AK47 with a few mags, swapping out the weapon for my CZ 550. I climb the nearby smokestack and monitor the area. I see a bandit walking down the road, encountering another bandit. They engage fire with one party retreating into a house. After much yelling in chat, the other bandit enters the house. A few short bursts later, one bandit leaves the house.

While this is occurring, I notice a survivor on the hospital roof between myself and the bandit in the house. Turns out it is my buddy who I gave the M4A1 earlier. Before I can chat with him, I see the bandit sprint off towards my general direction with a pack of zombies due to the battle with the other bandit. He runs out into an open field and I fire off a clip, eliminating him. I warn my buddy that the gunfire was friendly yet he panics, diving off the hospital roof, instantly dying.

I sit here for short duration and decide to climb down and check out the bandit's body when I hear 'click click click'. A bandit logged in on my perch, less than a foot away from my face. Stuck on the ladder, he lights me up with his rifle, killing me.

I respawn nearby to the East of town and rush towards my corpse to get revenge. I decide to divert and loot the field bandit's body for a weapon to take him out with but am disappointed to see a zombie on his body. I fire off a few Makarov rounds eliminating the zombie and rush in to grab the weapon fast, but am shot by the bandit, dieing once again.

I haven't played with the group in a while. These posts are backlogs from almost a week ago. I've been mostly playing solo and sticking to major towns, so my lifespan has been quite short ever since. Would love to get the pack together but probably wont be able to play much this weekend.

Sorry Aeinna, didn't realize you engaged the target. My mistake.

    (05-29-2012) Day 9 - The Beaches

I begin a new day fresh on the beaches near Cherno once again. The first thing I notice upon my arrival is the sound of flies, someone died near. I walk a short duration to see a standing corpse and another on the ground. Just some fresh blood without much value.

I push into the town to discover a survivor with blue camouflage on his face laying prone in the corner of a house, apparently AFK. I let him be and push further into the town when I anger a nearby zombie and rush back into the building to kill the zombie pack. When I fire off a few rounds to kill the zombies, Mr. Blueface wakes up and attempts to kill me, somehow missing at point blank range. I sprint out of the house, eliminate the last zombie and patch up my wounds. I peak into the house and fire off a few inaccurate Makarov rounds killing him.

I push onward and discover three dead survivor bodies, more fresh blood with nothing of value beyond a few Makarov magazines. As I pick up the magazines, I spot someone watching me near the house where I killed Mr. Blueface. "I know this looks bad, but I didn't kill these people." He continues to watch me and decides to fire off a few Makarov rounds at me. Makarov is quite horrendeous at range so I shrug off the fire and throw a flare at him to attract a few zombies towards his location. While he is occupied, I flank to his side but manage to attract a zombie on myself. I fire to kill the zombie, using up my magazine as the zombie dodges through his sloppy navigation. I reload to discover only one bullet in the magazine. Damn! I reload again, watching the survivor chase after me. It appears the Makarov clips I picked up all had just a single round. I run out of ammo and realize I have more magazines in my backpack. I run into a nearby building where I discover another dead survivor with a Winchester on his body. Before I can load up a Makarov mag, the zombie knocks me to the floor and knocks me unconscious. Unable to grab the Makarov clips from my bag, sit helpless to the zombie mauling my body to death. Upon death, I discover there is a second [m] clan tagged player in the server, the same as Mr. Blueface. He must've been trying to get revenge for his buddy and may have been part of the three survivor massacre in the field near the house.

    (05-29-2012) Day 9.5 - Elektro Loop

Once again, I start off my journey at the beaches, this time to the East of Elektro. I run into a nearby warehouse to discover another standing dead survivor. I explore the region and push over the hill towards the remote firehouse. I hear a gunshot as I climb the stairs and dive down to the lobby for cover. I throw a few flares into each corner of the building to throw off sound and warn others in area of the sniper's presence. I sit here for a few intense minutes until I decide to push out the side door and look through the mountainside for a target. No activity, must've moved on.

I push into the town and explore the office area, discovering a dead body with a bandit on the roof. I watch the roof looking for movement when another survivor enters the building. I notify him of my presence, but warn that if he comes to the roof, I will shoot him. A short duration later after he explores the building, he bumps to the roof and immediately backpedals and apologizes for entering my turf. I decide to depart the location after no movement on the roof and look back to see the target still up there, inactive. Must've gone AFK?

I continue exploring the town, clearing the church & firehouse with the only gain of a crossbow with a few bolts. On my way back out of town, I discover a sniper and ask him to identify. Mr. Assquatch responds "Fuck off." He runs off and I push into the remote firehouse to discover an AKM and decide it is time to depart Elektro.

As I start walking down the trail, I hear someone begging for a blood transfusion. I offer to help him out and jog back into town into the office and head to the third floor, the location he stated he was at. No body. I notify him that I am where he mentioned and there is no one in sight. Others announce that it sounds like a trap but the requester states he appreciated my attempt and signs out disappointed.

I backtrack towards the remote firehouse when I receive two quick sniper round near my location. I sprint into the firehouse, searching for targets in the area but without luck. I eliminate the few zombies I attracted with my M1911 and announce to others the presence of a sniper near the firehouse. I sit here for a short duration when I see the question "Who is in Power Plant?" I respond, "You mean Firehouse?" He replies "Yup" My stupid self states, "Guess" BAM! A single shot to the skull taking me down.

I tend to have very short encounters with other players that I don't feel are story worthy. Some guy running striaght down a road... to make him stop I call out on side chat that 'hey guy running down the road, I'm behind you and friendly' and he of course thought he was real smooth for stopping and jumping behind a bush to look for me. I was able to catch and flank him, but he had weapons I didn't want and I had plenty of food/water. I had my rifle on his back two minutes later, I just had no reason at all to waste the bullet.

The best story I could tell would be the three Russians I killed my first day as a bandit.

They were moving through the side of one of the major towns with a clear strategy. A guy with an 1866 was wiping out all the zombies like a boss. A guy with a military shotgun was humping his leg to make sure things didn't get out of hand, and the third guy was trailing a bit behind with an AK and I can only assume he was supposed to be looking out for players.

I used third person view and wall lean to keep track of them until the guy with the AK stopped to mess with his gear or maybe check his map and the other two kept moving foward. While he was separated I ran right up to him, stopped for an instant for him to aim, ran PAST him, strafed across him with my back towards him, then back pedalled back around him on his other side going almost completely in a circle around him. While he was disoriented I emptied the Mak into his head and quickly looted his AK.

I ran to a defensive position and waited for his buddies.

The 1866 guy seemed to know where I was, and went prone against a wall by a bush and edged out slowly like maybe I didn't see him just sprint and dive there. One easy burst and he was done.

I went around the other side of the building and found the third guy was crouch walking around behind the same wall/bush trying to figure out what to do with his pistol out. I dumped the rest of the AK clip in him on full auto and somehow he didn't die right away. He shot me with his pistol several times and we both went down unconcious.

Zombies came sprinting over and ate him and his 1866 buddy, but left me alone (I guess bandits taste bad!) until I regained conciousness. I bandaged myself, makked the zombies, and started trying to loot like a fiend before others came looking to see what the gunfire was about. I kept the AK, and went back to get a few clips from that guy's pack, an alice pack, and ate every piece of food in sight to get my blood back before I was kicked off from not recieving server messages. I would have liked to keep looting and get a better pistol and some gear items, but meh, the AK was good times and I died almost immediately when I started playing again the next day anyway. Bumped into a guy going into a house and we both shot eachother to death.

I seem to have terrible luck with rifles. I can never find even the most common ones and every story I read or person I talk to seems to take for granted they can get an AK/1866 whenever they want. I tend to find nothing but CZ's, Enfields, and crossbows. :/

Came home from work and played some DayZ to unwind... I've gone from a fresh spawn to chilling at the factory in the middle of the eastern coast with all the basics (matches/compass/knife/hatchet) an 1866 with four boxes of shells, a 1911 with four clips, and an AKM with two clips to burn on the next group of suckers I bump into. Plenty of food and water. The factory is a NEAT spot, too. Not too many zombies, fresh water source, good vantage points on the buildings. I may just chill here a while on a 50/50 server after work tomorrow and see what kind of trouble comes my way.

Logged back on and found two people having a fire fight.
Let them finish then shot the winner while he looted. ^^

Bunch of useless noobie loot. Makarovs and beans. No room in my stash for the extra meds and my PvP inclination leaves me little use for them as I'm almost always just fine or completely deadificated after a fight. But hey it was +1 bandit kill. Definitely need to move on from my spot though, I realize now no one comes here but noobs from the coast and perhaps someone looking to build a vehicle. I could not replace my half a mag of AKM from killing him and the zombies we attracted, so it wasn't a very profitable encounter.
