People have started being let in for technical testing and closed beta should start within a month, so expect release before 2013, or at least a really open beta.

Smedley just tweeted that the beta will start next Monday or Tuesday if all goes well. :O

I think the beta should be starting really soon. My buddy is in the alpha testing and he said its awesome. Smedley has said that everyone who has ever had a active sub to the original planetside will make it into the beta at some point. link to article talking about beta invitations.
