Default Any feedback on these computer components?

Looking for any insight into brands or experience with products. Tried to go high end at a reasonable cost, since i have most other components. RAM/PSU/HD/CD/Case. All my current pieces being replaced are 5+ years old, so I'm hoping to be good for around the same timeframe.

Video Card - Geforce GTX 670

    CPU - AMD Phenom II

    MoBo - Gigabyte AMD GA-970A

I have a Phenom dual core that I unlocked to 4 cores, running the same specs as the one you listed, and it's been going strong for coming up on 2 years. If you are adventurous and a bit of a gambler, you could save 20-30 bucks by buying a dual core AMD and a motherboard that can unlock all 4 cores. It's not guaranteed to work, as the inactive cores aren't intended to be used by AMD and therefore not tested/guaranteed, but... if you get one that works you feel like a bit of a badass.

Either way, these chips offer pretty damn awesome price to performance value.

Never had a gigabyte board but have known people who have and no complaints from them. Mobo specs look fine, has solid reviews overall... seems great for a build in this price range.

Dunno anything about current video cards, but tomshardware.com does monthly updates on the best deals in video cards for the various price levels. I personally have been an ATI man since 1998 or so, but my next card will deff be Nvidia. Tired of ATI's quirky drivers and problems that have persisted in them for years unaddressed.

Stay away from AMD, rest is fine. Intel is #1 for a reason. You'll have to pay a little more for the i5 series but its well worth it, go with the 2500k Sandybridge or 3530k Ivy Bridge.

Decent graphics card although fairly pricy for the boost in benchmarks it gives.

    Can't stand AMD.

I use a Gigabyte board and it works fine. However I've heard that ASUS is the best.

Everything I put in my gaming rig has performed above expectations for years.

I got an Asus motherboard for it. Options galore, never had a single problem with it. I am a die hard EVGA raving rabid fanboi for video cards. I just plain won't buy anything else anymore, since I started using EVGA I've gotten more performance for price, never had one burn up/out and I haven't had any driver issues. I used to be an AMD kid but I've gone with intel since my gaming rig and now I'm an intel kid. Intel has taken over as the current king IMO.

That being said I used GeForce alot before I switched to EVGA and never had any serious issues. I also have had a Gigabyte mother board in my 2nd PC for years and as far as I know by little brother still hits up Diablo 2 pretty regular on it so it's still kicking.

EVGA doesn't actually design cards, they just manufacture them. It's either AMD/ATI or Geforce.

EVGA is a godlike company. Their step-up program is unbelievable for anyone who regularly upgrades their components.

Yeah but they are my preferred manufacturer for many reasons, not least of which is the step up program like Boxy mentioned. There is definitely a difference between the manufacturers of GeForce cards and their cards specs.

EVGA is a sloppy, shitty company who's products I won't buy anymore. After having a motherboard die on me, they insisted I re-upload my invoice. Okay. I thought I did that when I registered to avoid such nonsense, but fine, sure, lets do it. So I do that. Suddenly they start fucking with the registration dates on unrelated products. I honestly suspect they screwed my other warranties but at this point I don't even care. It took a good two weeks to get shit sorted out with them.

I'll stick with Asus from now on. All they want is a serial number because they're not fucking idiots and can look up when it was manufactured and traditionally they'll give you an extra month or two after the date.

That CPU is already quite dated, so I doubt you'll get 5 years out of it...It should be fine for a couple of years, though.

The GPU is overpriced. EVGA ain't what they used to be, either. I suggest going for the Gigabyte or Asus (avoid the "TOP" varient).
It's going to be a fine day tomorrow. We will have salad...
