    Default Diablo 3 0.4

I stopped playing D3 once I got to the point I could fight in inferno, because instead of a 'flat' area to play around with your completed character it instead left you with only a gear grind to improve with. No new skills, no new stats, and no new rewards. Just bigger numbers.

0.4 is doing a few things I like. The paragon system lets me get new stats, the removal of rage timers and health refreshes from champions and rares prevents me from being stonewalled if I'm willing to try and brute force one pack, and the new legendary items mean I can find interesting items rather than just interesting numbers.

I think most people won't like the free max MF on paper, but I expect paragon 100 to be an insane grind and people with multiple characters will probably still need to work in MF to hit the cap and I really prefer the NV system to an item based system anyway.

I'll be going back to the game when that goes live.

If it's a big enough change, I might jump on there again. After the hacking incident a couple of weeks ago, Bliz sent me a follow up customer service survey, and I wrote them a fairly scathing review on what I perceived to be an egregious conflict of interest of their supplemental income from the RMAH and designing the game to damn near require it. I also mentioned their awful policy that account security is the client's responsibility, because for a small fee, anyone can buy an authenticator.

I haven't played in a few days and haven't been inclined to either.

    Does this count as quitting?

Haven't played since June. The endgame of Diablo 3 just isn't what it was in Diablo 2. Sure you're looking for new loot, but as I said in the other diablo 3 thread, it's just a large treadmill of +1's instead of finding that awesome piece of loot you can base an entire character around.

Days? I haven't logged into Diablo 3 in a couple months.

I'll be checking out the patch, and it sounds like a major improvement, but I think it will leave me bored of it after a week...

Uniques and set items were great rewards in Diablo 2, and I always knew I could count on finding one or two in a play session by just killing every boss but Duriel a few times. I would send them over to a mule even though I knew I probably wouldn't ever make a character that could use most of it.

From what I've seen of the new legendaries most of them sounds cheesy. 'Chance to x on hit' is not inspiring, and it just reinforces the feeling I get from the game that I don't have a whole lot of control (the amount of % chance in this game compared to Diablo 2 is depressing to me, which is ironic because they got rid of chance to hit).
Seems that the focus is still on just getting max stats and farming through an endless stream of champion and elite packs for the sake of farming.

But whatever, so now there will be a bunch of new legendaries and set items that are really cool. I didn't find a single legendary or set item in the 60 hours I logged after the release of the game, so it's a complete toss up if I'll get anything in the next week. Then I factor in the chance that I find a legendary or set item that is good enough and inspiring enough to make me feel rewarded for playing for 20 hours... I'll probably get bad rolls on the least sought after legendary in the game.

Fine, so I play for 20 hours and make enough gold to buy something cool on the auction house. After all, the best way to advance my character is still to just buy my way to the top. I really see the auction house(both gold and real money) as the worst part of Diablo 3 - not the concept per se, but the existence of the AH informs so many other decisions that made Diablo 3 a dreadful experience.
OK, now I played 20 hours, and just bought someone else's dropped item, and got no sense of accomplishment and now I do 2% more damage, and I have a 25% chance of doing 5% more, yippee?

At the end of the day I'll reflect on what I've done, and I still realize that the game is just a big gold farm or I blow my cash on the RHAH. Unless I get some kind of sense of achievement from one of those 2 options, or I just fall in love with just playing the game for the sake of playing the game, the game will still leave me feeling less

The gameplay changes, skill improvements, etc are good. Those kinds of improvements are just the minimum of what I expect from a gaming company in 2012, especially Blizzard.

I really just wish I could combine the freedom and character development of a game like Path of Exile with the raw action RPG gameplay of Diablo 3.

Fan of the change, not sure if it's enough to make me play again with any sort of regularity. In the end it's still about never ending farming hoping for a slight upgrade. I'm not against that, when it's fun. Dunno if this'll be enough to bring me back, but it's nice that I'll have something to work on when I *do* play.

You don't understand. I took D3 so slowly that most of you had rage quit by the time I finished Act 1 normal.

Haven't played since June. Too bad this patch is coming out now. I simply don't have the time.

Just tried the open beta and got to Level 5 before the servers went offline. Gotta say it doesn't feel much different from previous entries...Like Soul of Guardian and Tamer Saga, Odin Quest conjures up a fantasy world where path-tracking, pet training, online trading, equipment crafting and skill learning are all possible.

    Lucky bastard. :/

I ran an early quest in A1 inferno real quick (Busy playing CS:GO) to see how Paragon XP goes. The NW gate -> Grabbing the Crown was one block of Paragon lv1.

I have never played this game.

I paid no money for it.

Hell, I didn't even attempt to pirate it.

I am not disappointed in my decision.

I just wanted to rub this in your guys faces.

    Cheerio!

The joke's on you. I refunded the game when I realized it was shit and no amount of patching was going to fix it.
