What was that one game?

I can't remember it for the life of me, hopefully cata can.

I think it was for PS1 but I can't be sure. It was an adventure game, and it was hack N slash style. It was very dark and gothic. Gritty. There was this hooded figure who narrated the game, who I'm pretty sure the main character was pursuing. The main character used a rapier and had a flintlock pistol. There were werewolves and the like. Barrels would explode when struck. I remember one boss was an octopus.

I know it's not much to go on. But hopefully......

Haven't actually played it, but I googled "Playstation Walkthrough Octopus boss" and only came up with a few titles. Dark/Gritty, and I see a counter for bullets in some vids and screen shots... I don't think you mean MGS4, Diddy Kong Racing, Spider Man, or Mega Man X, so if this isn't it I got nothing. :P
