    Default Send your kid to Atheist Camp!

    "We would encourage them to read, to go to church," said Chuck Wolber, one of Camp Quest Northwest's founders. "The best way to become an atheist is to study the Bible, and I definitely recommend the kids do that."

    I laughed.

    LMAO. This sounds like something my in-laws would support. They'd be all like "cause a camp based on the Christian faith would be brain washing so the kids can go here to avoid that by being told atheism is the right way". And I'd be like "you don't even realize what you just said do you fucktard?"

    Another summer camp teaching kids to be accepting of their view and closed minded of the views of others, and a bunch of idiots who think it's meaningful relative to however they themselves make the same mistake.

    It's supposedly pretty awesome, actually. From what I've heard of it in the past, they teach you how to think as opposed to what to think, so there's lots of puzzles, mysteries, riddles and such.

    I also like how they rent another camp site and put tape 'n shit over the religious references. Typical atheist movement, can't found a civilization of their own so they try to do a hippy take over of America/etc. Now we have proof they're too damn lazy to even create their own fucking camp.

    That's not unique to atheism or this camp, and it's certainly not 'new'. The problem with teaching them 'how' to think in a setting like that, is that the ones doing the teaching are put in a position where they state what is right and what is wrong. Thus they determine how far to think and where to STOP thinking. They give them a starting point and -intentionally or not- an ending point, then give them a pat on the back for connecting the dots and convince them they've learned 'how' to think. You end up with adults who consider themselves open minded but continue to connect the dots the way they think they're supposed to.

    Pick any topic you want and there will be examples.

    Healthcare = expensive
    Debt = spending $
    Healthcare = more Debt... everyone argues Obamacare while seventy billion in trade deficit sails away to other countries every month (MONTH) and our kids think a tarrif is an obsolte term from colonial times, but a new healthcare plan? for a fraction of that per year and not rising vs the skyrocketing trade deficit? Healthcare being something that goes back to Americans? Nevermind that both candidates don't give two shits about giving the American dream away to other countries so their corporate sponsors can get rich... SHIT THIS GUY IS RUINING THE ECONOMY WITH THIS HEALTHCARE THING. FUCK!

    People were buying early hybrid cars for a hundred thousand dollars more than a regular car to SAVE MONEY ON GAS LOL

    The 'intelligent' and 'knows how to think' portion of America still thinks we invaded the two countries bordering Iran over oil or WMD's, and a portion of them even think we demo'd our own world trade center on 9/11 to do it.

    Where did I say it was? The only thing unique to atheism is atheism, so if they were only doing things unique to atheism, it'd pretty much just be an ongoing round of "Still atheist?", "Yup", "Okay then".

    Again, where did I say it was? That said, your summer camps are pretty awesome if they teach inquiry, inductive/deductive/abductive reasoning, lateral thinking and logical fallacies etc.

    Well, its hard to be 'new' when they started the camp in 1996.

    Sucks that Atheism, just like all other Theism's have a stigma against them. But you and silly are picking the oddest things to point out in campaign against a summer camp...

    To be fair, if it was Christian summer camp, as has been mentioned, we'd be all like lol brainwashing.

    And of course if it's an atheist camp that's what they must be teaching. Not saying you said that, but you know, the stereotypes some groups like to portray THEMSELVES as lol.

    I'd call atheist brainwashing camp more like learning how to tether ball a scientific theory every time it gets falsified.
