Once again, it serves to take advantage of desperate people, pretty much robbing them blind because they can't wait to sell it themselves and get a fair price.

Let's break it down. Do you sell an item at a pawn shop for it's value? No. Do you sell it for close to it's value? No. Do you sell it for half of it's value? If you're lucky. There's absolutely no way to rationalize this being anything but shady.
That is not true here. The only way a dentist will bill you is if you have insurance. Without it, they will not do anything unless you can pay upfront that day, for all of it. While that may not be a good example where you live, for here, it is a perfect one. As I am currently in said situation and have spoken to I do not know how many dentists/oral surgeons.

How does that make it a dirty business? So if someone else in my situation needs to pay, can't but has something they can sell so they can fix a problem, it makes pawn shops bad? Okay, lets take away all pawn shops. How are they gonna pay now? Family is broke, friends are broke. Hospital won't do anything... oh well to them?

Live somewhere that hospitals cannot deny you emergency services. Problem solved.

The hospitals do not deny emergency services but none of them have oral surgeons on their pay roll. They will give you a scrip for antibiotics and pain pills, tell you to call your dentist and to feel better soon. This isn't just here. No hospital that I am aware will even think about pulling a tooth, even if you end up with half of your face distorted from it being swollen from an infection. They best they can offer is to drain it for you.

Since not only have I seen family and friends go through shit like this, as well as myself, you must either live in a state that runs completely differently than the ones I have been in or you have never experienced an abscessed tooth. Without dental insurance. Which by the way, still costs $150 to 200 to get fixed, if you do have it.

I'm actually missing a tooth thanks to an abscessed tooth, so yes, I know exactly what it's like. And regardless of where you go, all they are going to give you is pain pills and antibiotics, because if they pull it while the infection is still on-going you risk it getting into your blood, and that's game over. So, basically, my point stands.

Yes, I said they will give you antibiotics and pain pills. Which if the antibiotics don't work, what then? I've had them not work, I've had a tooth pulled by a dentist that was infected because sometimes, the only way to get it to go away, is to remove what is causing the infection. Your point does not stand.

Oral surgeons prefer to pull infected teeth immediately because it's safer for the patient. Most dentists feed patients a line of crap because they don't want to deal with a problematic extraction. (Learned from my old oral surgeon who pulled abscessed wisdom teeth out of me).

Walking Dead season 2 is up on Netflix - that should provide a few good hours of sedation.

I'm not gonna get in a "who grew up the poorest" dick measuring contest with you, but how about we just leave it at; My mom (of a poor fisherman) and dad (oldest of 10) also rose to where they are from nothing. And we never have had anything that anyone would consider "priceless". That's part of why I think its funny that you keep using the word "priceless" like it means something.

And just another side note you'll probably ignore; the fewer amount of people you have to care for in life, the less of a chance you'll have to worry about quick emergency cash. So it would make sense why your privileged ass who grew up with successful parents never had to look for quick cash.

Where you grew up has nothing to do with the simple fact that you (as a person) do not get it. You never will get it.
LMAO. I love it. If giving me that old "you don't know how it is" speech makes you feel better please feel free to continue.

My mom and dad were 19 and 18 when I was born. My dad had to get his GED later in life and my mom didn't finish her college education until around 10 years ago. Exactly how fucking privileged do you think I had it growing up lol? No way that's right, Mississippi is just like you've seen in the movies right? All poor blacks and rich white plantation owners. My parents run a cotton gin for a living LMAO.

Spare me the "you don't know how it is" excuse just because somebody else did it better/smarter.

Oh my parents have 4 children also. Pretty spread out but if you can't pay for your kids don't fucking have them. Birth control isn't that expensive.

I did know someone like your dumbass growing up though who was constantly looking for quick cash. Drop 500 bucks on some subwoofer set-up for his trunk, decide he needed money for the state fair and turn around and pawn/offload them for half their worth or less and piss away some money at the state fair, turn around a couple months later and buy a similar set up losing money every fucking transaction along the way.

Note I said earlier that Aeinna had a point about there being times you need quick cash IN THE FORM OF A LOAN which is what she is talking about. You know, borrow the cash til pay check then go back and get your item? However some of you other idiots don't seem to understand that there is a difference between selling something to the pawn shop outright and getting one of their quick and easy short term loans.

Actually, that would be the "quick cash" I kept referring to.

And being rich isn't the only way you can be privileged, bubs. For instance, being able to have four kids AND go through college at some point in life is a privilege. Don't worry though! Doesn't make you a snot nose kid who got to play in mini escalades when you were 4 years old and hardly had to prove much. We all know you work hard to prove your worth in life.

Irrelevant, and the only time I've ever needed quick cash I was able to borrow from my parents. It can be tough when you are paying rent in Prague and your credit union back in the U.S shuts down your card for a week investigating "fraud".

But like I said dude; I hope one day you will get it, but I doubt you ever will.

I called 4 pages so we need to end this soon. It appears that silly has turncloaked on his "ALL PAWNSHOPS ARE BAD" stance, to the more sensible but still extreme "ALL PEOPLE WHO SELL FOR QUICK CASH AT PAWNSHOPs ARE ASSBURGER CRIMINALS".

    Carry on.

No it's not lol it's called hard work and having priorities. In the past I never took you for one of those "everyone who doesn't have everything they want is a victim of something" people.

Well fuck, why didn't you just tell me there was such a common reason for people to need quick cash lol.

Who would have thought a thread about TV shows would lead to several pages of pure retardation.

Finished season 2 in under a week. Good stuff - even though it felt like it was dragged out around the farm for the most part. If you read the plotline of the comic book series, the two are almost incomparable.

Not really enjoying Walking Dead. Characters don't make sense, emotions seem out of place, risk vs reward is totally thrown out the window by the people portrayed as rational... Horde has been gone for hours and you've only seen one walker... but you won't yell out for a missing little girl scared and lost in the woods by herself? Your search party is four assholes humping eachothers legs and whispering along a trail you already know she left? That's horrible on so many levels.

The show going 'LOL IDUNNO' and suddenly dropping plot points is even worse than my star trek rant about replacing plot points with technobabble.

Or you could just enjoy it for face value and the plot twists for a few hours. If you genuinely don't care for it and see no entertainment value, that's one thing. But systematically critiquing the finer points just because it's a popular series just kind of hurts your own experience with it. Got anything better going on right now?
