    Default Smartphones

So I've finally been bumped over the edge from curious to "I need that!".

More comfy with both voice chat online and speaker phones in normal settings, more interested in mobile apps beyond games like a vehicle diagnostic app or GPS functionality, cameras have moved forward and are meeting my expectations, work has twisted me into this modern being that doesn't neglect e-mail and has a need for a good calendar app, and down time at work has me looking for something to play with or watch videos on.

I'm very unhappy with windows mobile OS's and blatantly biased against apple so Android it is.

Looking at the HTC One X and Galaxy SIII. The SIII looks better with 2gigs of RAM but I'm really not sure about the particulars.

    Thoughts?

I was looking at a technical job posting the other day where having a smart phone was required.
-Agent of Satan, but my duties are largely ceremonial.

-"Personally, I play a warlock to set people on fire as they run in fear while I steal their souls. As an added perk, I play an undead warlock so I can eat their brains afterwards. I suppose a better question is, why do people play anything else?" (Unknown WoW forum poster)

Smartphones are pretty damned useful. They're basically shitty palm sized computers that can make the occasional phone call.

I applied for help desk at my current job once. They do a lot of printer jams and user preferences/permissions. I hung out with them whenever I could and never encountered anything I couldn't do by using google and the how-to's. The guy who interviewed me asked me if I had 'blackberry experience' and it was all I could do not to laugh in his face.

You're hiring a guy for I.T., now you're worried they can't figure out a new cell phone? Really?

Didn't get the job. Could be lack of college, could be due to lack of blackberry experience. I certainly hope it was the former.

As I watch reviews online, I really prefer the Note II.

Coming from a clam shell they all seem big to me, and I think what always bothered me about mobile devices was a lack of mouse for things like tooltips, highlighting, and area selecting. I like how it has the nice stylus with the 'air view', and how it is built into the software. With the stylus and huge screen I wouldn't have to full screen a calculator. I'm CONSTANTLY e-mailing people scraps of screen shots at work.

When the guy is on a call and pulls the stylus out, it automatically pops up with a note pad for him. Little things like this are huge to me because if it's not intuitive, I wouldn't bother with it rather than finding a pen and paper. I can't imagine taking a note during a call or otherwise without a stylus.

Going to hold one during this week some time, and see if I like it.
