RAMdisk

I've recently acquired a new desktop and went overkill on the RAM - mixture of being greedy and ignorant. I am now trying to figure out how to put it to good use. Talking about 32GB here. Has anyone used a RAMdisk? This machine has a SSD too and I've been running GW2 off it with great results. Would a RAMdisk do (much) better? Could it drive the CPU to much higher temps and/or get bottlenecked at the graph card?

SSDs are pretty damned fast. I don't know much about RAMdisks, but i've always been under the impression it'd be faster than a standard SATA drive. Plus it'd have the added benefit of not shortening your SSDs life which i'm sure the updating and such from GW2 would be doing(so I hope you didn't throw steam on there).

Computer is only running GW2 as far as gaming is concerned. I don't recall now which disk is holding Steam but I haven't installed any games from it yet.

But yeah, the updating of GW2 on SSD did cross my mind and so did RAMdisk for it. My concern was the ramdisk image saving at every reboot. Having that on the SSD would be worse than the little patches. And 15Gb rewrites on the hdd would be too slow.

This is pretty much your only problem, although when I was looking at using a RAMDisk for LOTRO I remember seeing somewhere that you could keep files on the RAM only if you had some special "always powered" RAM, which would defeat its volatility. I then started looking into using a large and fast flash drive as an alternative, but I know that some/most flash drives screw up like SSD's after so many writes.
